The Community Police Forum’s responsibilities are to:

  • Advise the SAPS regarding local policing priorities; jointly identify policing priorities for presentation to the MEC for Community Safety.
  • Facilitate in resolving concerns, problems and complaints from community members regarding policing.
  • Harmonise the relationship between the police and the community.
  • Request the Station Commissioner to provide crime information analysis on policing on a quarterly basis and as when it is required.
  • Obtain regular feedback from the community about the quality of police service delivery.
  • Initiate and support community based crime prevention projects.
  • Inform the community about the activities of the CPF and sub-forums and engage them accordingly.
  • Ensure effective management of the forum’s resources.
  • Monitor and request reports on the activities of the Sectors and ensure the sharing of good practices

The Community Police Forum’s objectives are to:

  • Establish and maintain a partnership between the community and the police.
  • Promote communication between the community and the police.
  • Promote co-operation between the community and the police in fulfilling the needs of the
  • Improve the rendering of police services to the community at local level.
  • Improve the transparency in the service and accountability of the police to the community.
  • Promote joint problem identification and problem solving by the police and the community in relation to crime, service delivery, disorder, and poor community police relations.
  • Monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of the police.
  • Evaluate the provision of visible policing in the Sector area.
  • To promote the aims and objectives of Community Policing and facilitate the functioning thereof.
  • Implement projects in the interests of improved community safety.

Our Trauma Counsellers

Our Sector have a dedicated volunteer counselling group headed by a professional counseller.

We will also assist as much as possible with referrals to the correct organisations to assist any individual should their need lie outside the scope of short-term trauma counselling offered by this group.

Fees and Membership

FEE

Membership fees are as follow:

R100.00 administration which includes a reflective CPF House board. This helps to identify your property for SAPS, Patrollers and security companies and for these mentioned parties to allow lawful access to your property.

R40.00 per month or R400.00 per year. This helps towards the CPF to fund and maintain all forms of communication.

RADIOS

Our preferred method of real time communication in any form of emergencies are the CPF radios.

Preferred brand of Radios which is programmed for our Sector is SFE's. Radios are available from the CPF at a cost of R1950.00 per radio

R50.00 ICASA fee per Radio yearly

The radios are used to communicate important information to the entire Sector 8 CPF.

Radios are used for emergencies, radio test, Rollcall and general information. Patrollers use the radios for communicating with each other when responding.

The CPF supports visibility as one of the key crime prevention methods available to the forum. CPF Patrollers or Response officers perform a multitude of support rolls within the sector and work closely with SAPS.

If a community member would like to become a Patroller, he or she must first become a CPF member.

As such they need to be in possession of a CPF Sector 8 radio and must be 21 years or older.

The member must then submit the Patroller Application Forms
